Children's glasses

Frames that fit small faces and lenses made for running, falling and growing. Dr. McNair checks the fit herself, and you leave with glasses your child wants to wear.

  • Frames sized for small faces, in many shapes and colors

  • Lenses in impact-resistant material

  • Adjustments and repairs when a frame bends

How we choose glasses for a child

  • Fit

The frame should sit on the nose without sliding, and the lenses should be centered in front of the eyes. We adjust each pair on your child's face.

  • Lenses

Impact-resistant lens material, and coatings you can choose. We explain what each one does and what it adds to the bill.

  • Durability

Flexible frames, spring hinges and straps for little ones who take their glasses off to play.

Try-on mornings

Come in with your child on a try-on morning, when no exam is needed. Try shapes and colors, see how they sit and take your time. Ask the front desk when the next one is.

  • A parent and child choose together

  • No brand names, only shapes, colors and materials

From exam to first day with glasses

  1. 01

    Step 1: The exam

The doctor writes a prescription if glasses would help.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Choosing frames

Your child tries frames with you beside them.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Fitting

We order the lenses and adjust the frame to your child's face.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Pickup and check

We check the fit on pickup, and again after the first weeks if you ask.

How glasses are billed

A vision plan may pay toward frames and lenses. Medical insurance pays for visits about an eye problem, not for glasses. We tell you what we expect your plan to pay before you order, and what is billed separately.

  • Vision plan

    Routine exams, frames and lenses.

  • Medical insurance

Visits for an eye problem and follow-ups.

  • Paying yourself

A written estimate before you order.

Your prescription is yours

After the exam and fitting we give you a copy, with nothing to buy first. Fill it here or anywhere you like.

Questions we hear

What if my child's frame breaks?

Bring it in. We adjust bent frames and replace parts when we can, and tell you if a new frame makes more sense.

Can I buy the glasses somewhere else?

Yes. Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy, and you can fill it anywhere.

How do I help my child get used to glasses?

Start with short stretches and let your child pick the frame. We check the fit again if the glasses leave marks or slide.
